Student Support and Enrichment at Caddies Creek Public School
At Caddies Creek Public School, we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive community that empowers responsible, resilient, and respectful learners. Our school vision underpins everything we do, ensuring that each student is known, valued, and cared for.
We take pride in living out our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Excellence, and Integrity. These values guide our teaching, interactions, and expectations across the school.
Our motto "We Care, Challenge, Persist and Succeed" reflects our belief in nurturing each student’s potential and celebrating their growth.
The Learning Support Team works collaboratively with classroom teachers to identify and respond to individual learning needs. Together, they plan, monitor, and evaluate personalised teaching programs to ensure every student can access the curriculum and thrive.
Individual learning plans are developed in partnership with parents and carers, highlighting student strengths while identifying areas requiring support or adjustment.
Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities that enrich their learning and strengthen their sense of belonging. These include Dance, Choir, Debating, Primary Writers, Gardening Club, the Student Representative Council (SRC) and our Eco Crusaders environmental initiative.
At Caddies Creek PS, we are proud to provide an environment where every learner is supported, challenged, and celebrated.
Student opportunities and activities
We offer a range of co-curricular programs to support students goals both inside and outside of the classroom.
Attendance at Caddies Creek PS
Our Progress
Since the disruptions of COVID, our school community has worked hard to rebuild strong attendance habits, and the results are encouraging:
- Overall Attendance: 2022: 89.1% → 2023: 90.6% → 2024: 90.5% → 2025: 92.3%
- Students Attending 90%+ of the Time: 2022: 51.8% → 2023: 64.9% → 2024: 63.2% → 2025: 72.8%
These improvements show we're heading in the right direction. However, we haven't yet returned to our pre-COVID standards (2019-2021), and we know we can do better together.
Why 90% Attendance Matters
When a student attends less than 90% of the school year, they miss 19 days or almost four school weeks. This significant amount of time away from learning can impact your child's progress and engagement. In 2026, we will be reviewing attendance weekly for students who fall below this 90% threshold so we can offer early support where needed.
School Hours and Arrival
Our official school hours are 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Before school: The playground opens at 8:30am with teacher supervision. Children should not arrive before 8:30am. If you need earlier care, please contact Camp Australia OOSH on 1300 105 343.
School starts at 9:00am: Students arriving after 9:05am must collect a late slip from the office and will be recorded as a partial absence.
Early collection: If you need to collect your child before 3:00pm, please report to the office first. We'll call the classroom and have your child walked to you. This ensures we can account for all students in case of emergency.
Extended Leave During Term Time
In 2025, we changed our approach to extended leave applications, and this will continue in 2026.
Our school will not approve extended leave for holidays during term time. We understand families want to travel together, but we ask that you plan holidays during the designated school holiday periods.
We will continue to support applications for extended leave exceptional circumstances such as funerals and weddings, religious festivals and observances, urgent family matters. Leave taken for holidays during term time will be recorded as 'unjustified' absence. Applications for extended leave can be found here. The school also has a link to this form on our school website.
How to Report Absences
When your child is absent, please notify the school within 7 days of the absence (preferably through Sentral). Absences are recorded as:
Explained absences: When you provide a satisfactory reason within 7 days (illness, family emergency, religious observance, etc.)
Sick leave (S): For illness. Medical certificates may be requested for three or more consecutive days
Leave (L): For approved exceptional circumstances as outlined above
Unexplained (A): When no notification is received within 7 days, or when the reason is unsatisfactory (e.g., shopping, general family activities)
Unjustified (A): For unapproved holiday travel during term time
Working Together
Students with attendance rates below 85% (approximately 8 days absent per term) will be identified for follow-up support by school or regional staff. This isn't about penalizing families—it's about ensuring every child has the best opportunity to succeed.
We know that life happens—children get sick, family emergencies arise, and there are legitimate reasons for absence. When these situations occur, please communicate with us so we can support your child's learning.
Thank you for your partnership in making attendance a priority. Together, we can ensure every child at Caddies Creek PS has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
