Junior & Senior Cricket

In Junior and Senior Cricket, teams of twelve play a modified cricket match on a small field, using plastic bats and a rubber ball. Batting pairs face 2 overs (12 deliveries) to score as many runs as they can. Every wicket taken by the bowling team (if they are bowled, caught or run out), the bowling team is awarded 2 runs, but the batters remain until the conclusion of their 12 balls. When bowling, every member bowls one 6 ball over. The team with the most runs (batting plus additional runs for taking wickets) wins.

Bowlers may bowl over or under arm and any unhittable deliveries are not re-bowled. Instead the batting team is awarded 1 run for the delivery. Control when bowling is a major focus for all players.

Students in years 3 and 4 can attend the junior trials, and students in years 5 and 6  can try out for the senior teams. It is a mixed team with both boys and girls combined.

Due to the wealth of cricket ability at CCPS, no training sessions are mandatory, or are required for selection for matches. Any training sessions are optional.
