Learning and Support at Caddies
At Caddies Creek Public School, our goal is to ensure that every student is known, valued and cared for and their individual needs recognised, supported and met. Members of our school Learning Support Team and classroom teachers spend significant time getting to know the individual needs of each student and planning, monitoring and evaluating teaching programs to ensure personalised learning and support is provided for all students.
Our Learning and Support programs help students to gain access to the curriculum, enjoy involvement in a wide range of learning experiences and develop independence.
Individual learning plans are developed in partnership with parents, to identify student strengths as well as areas requiring support and adjustment.
Support Staff
We have a number of staff who provide support for our students. The Learning and Support Team plays a key role in ensuring that the specific needs of students with disability and additional learning needs are met.
- The school psychologist/counsellor are available for student support and assessment. Referrals can be made by teachers and parents through the school office.
- The Learning and Support Teacher provides direct and timely specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teacher.
- School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) work under the direction and supervision of the deputy principals and/or classroom teacher. They provide assistance to students with disabilities and additional learning and support needs with school routines and class activities.
Support Programs
CCPS offers various support programs for our students. Parents are informed before inclusion of their child in one of these programs. Some of these programs include:
Theragames - board games that support students with social, emotional and behavioural issues
MiniLit - a small group reading program for students in Year 1 and 2
MacqLit - a small group explicit and systematic reading intervention program for small groups of older low-progress readers
Got It! Program - a school-based specialist mental health early intervention program for young children in Kindergarten to Year Two
